Our Story
Design Build Masters, LLC was built on the belief that great construction should do more than upgrade a space - it should improve the way people live in it.

As a husband-and-wife team, we combine two different skill sets:
Sue Pittman - Licensed Occupational Therapist from St Ambrose University - who understands safety, accessibility, functional design, and how a home supports people across all stages of life.
Brian Pittman - Construction Engineer from Iowa State - who with decades of hands-on experience in large projects to small projects, remodeling to new construction, finish carpentry and interior finish systems knows and understands how to correctly make idea become reality.
Together, we create solutions that are beautiful, practical, safe and built to last.

After working in hospitals, long and short-term care assisted living facilities, and nursing homes, Sue had performed many home assessments but had never thought to oversee the work herself, until Brian's father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and we modified our parents' house to accommodate his needs to be able to live comfortably. From there, we expanded on the concept to combine both of our talents to help other families that are wanting to stay in their home longer in a safe environment tailored to each individual's need.
We have grown a team who all share the same passions and are a company with a commitment to serve homeowners, property managers, and contractors with the same customer care as they deserve.

Our Process
Home Assessment
During your home assessment with Sue, a licensed Occupational Therapist, she will look at safety and accessibility, functional needs, and recommendations for modifications. We will establish a budget to move into design and estimating phase.
Design & Construction Estimate
From the recommended modifications, Brian will design and prepare a transparent project pricing with material allowances and expected timelines to ensure that you understand what the project will consist of prior to moving into the construction phase.
On-Site Consultations
We will acquire the necessary city permits, review the construction plan to ensure that everyone understands the process and begin work. During construction, we will have periodic progress meetings to ensure that you are educated with the modifications being made.
The Finishing
Touches
Upon completion, we will walk through everything with you to make sure that you understand and are happy with how everything operates and ensure a successful project delivery. We will review maintenance requirements and any need for future re-evaluation.
